Here, you will find a summary of the key findings for the Public and Recreational Spaces section of the Our Turn to Speak survey. This section of the survey was completed by 99 participants who selected Public and Recreational Spaces as one of three life domains that had been most affected by their experience of stigma and discrimination.

On average, 62.4% of participants agreed with all statements describing withdrawal from opportunities relevant to public and recreational spaces because of stigma about mental health issues.

Experiences

Here, the key findings relating to perceived experiences of stigma and discrimination relevant to different types of public spaces are shown. Perceived experiences of stigma and discrimination were consistently higher in relation to public spaces and events than for public transport.

Anticipation

Here, the key findings relating to anticipated stigma and discrimination relevant to different types of public and recreational spaces are shown. Anticipated stigma and discrimination was consistently higher in relation to public spaces and events than for public transport.

Withdrawal

Here, the key findings relating to withdrawal from opportunity relevant to different types of public and recreational spaces are shown. Again, withdrawal from opportunity was higher in relation to public spaces and events than for public transport.
